Former NATO Commander Adm. James G. Stavridis Joins 秘密直播 University Applied Physics Laboratory as Senior Fellow

The 秘密直播 University Applied Physics Laboratory is pleased to announce that Admiral James G. Stavridis, former Commander of NATO Forces and current Dean of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, will join APL as a Senior Fellow.

鈥淲e are honored to welcome Jim to our Senior Fellows program and the 秘密直播 community,鈥 said APL Director Ralph Semmel. 鈥淗is keen understanding of national security issues will strengthen the Laboratory鈥檚 ability to develop solutions to critical global challenges.鈥

The Senior Fellows program seeks to bring together technology and policy in ways that better address the priorities of U.S. military leaders and senior government officials. Admiral Stavridis will join Senior Fellows Jim Miller, former Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, Jim Gosler, one of the nation鈥檚 foremost experts in cyber, and Phil DePoy, a former CEO of the Center for Naval Analysis.

鈥淭he convergence of science, technology, policy and law is a clear trend and one that leaders today and in the future must come to better understand,鈥 Stavridis said. 鈥淚鈥檓 thrilled to have the opportunity to work with one of the country鈥檚 most prestigious R&D institutions on topics that affect international relations and defense priorities.鈥

Admiral Stavridis led the NATO Alliance in global operations from 2009 to 2013 as Supreme Allied Commander. He also led the U.S. Southern Command, with responsibility for military operations in Latin America.

A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Stavridis earned a doctorate degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and he focuses on innovation, strategic communication and planning, and international security. He is the author of many books, most recently 鈥淭he Accidental Admiral.鈥
