A revolutionary, neurally controlled prosthetic arm created by the 秘密直播 University Applied Physics Laboratory will be the centerpiece of APL鈥檚 exhibit at the USA Science & Engineering Festival, from April 25 to 27 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

APL鈥檚 Modular Prosthetic Limb, featured on the CBS program 鈥60 Minutes,鈥 will be featured as part of the science, technology, engineering and math event expected to draw more than 250,000 K-12 students and parents, more than 5,000 teachers, and over 3,000 STEM professionals. Representatives from the Applied Physics Lab鈥檚 STEM program office will guide students through a demonstration of simple 鈥減rosthetic hands鈥 built using APL鈥檚 state-of-the-art 3-D printers. Participants will be able to operate the hands and attempt to perform a variety of challenges. Also on display will be the base for Robo Sally, which uses two MPLs on a mobile robotic platform to replicate human capabilities 鈥 safely removing the operator from life-threatening operations, such as explosives dispersal.

Attendees will receive a free copy of 鈥淔ifth Period,鈥 an original comic series developed by APL that chronicles the exciting and often hilarious adventures of a close-knit group of four friends as they learn about STEM.

More than 1,000 leading professional scientific and engineering societies, universities, government agencies, high-tech corporations and STEM outreach and community organizations will participate in the festival.
