Richard Danzig and Paul Stockton Join 秘密直播 APL as Senior Fellows

The 秘密直播 University Applied Physics Laboratory is pleased to announce that Dr. Richard Danzig, former Secretary of the Navy, and Dr. Paul Stockton, former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and America鈥檚 Security Affairs, have joined APL as Senior Fellows.

Dr. Danzig is a member of the Defense Policy Board and the President鈥檚 Intelligence Advisory Board, a trustee of The RAND Corporation and of Reed College, a director of the Center for a New American Security, and a director of Saffron Hill Ventures (a European investment firm) and chair of the Advisory Board for Idaho National Laboratory鈥檚 Innovation Center. Previously, he served as Under Secretary of the Navy and then Secretary of the Navy during the Clinton Administration.

Dr. Stockton is the managing director of Sonecon, LLC. He serves on the Homeland Security Advisory Council, the Board of Trustees of Analytic Services, Inc., the Strategic Advisory Council of the Idaho National Laboratory, and other boards. Previously, Dr. Stockton served as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and America鈥檚 Security Affairs from June 2009 until January 2013, and was the Executive Director of the Council of Governors.

Dr. Danzig is the author of numerous reports and several books, including most recently, 鈥淪urviving on a Diet of Poisoned Fruit: Reducing the National Security Risk of America鈥檚 Cyber Dependencies.鈥

Dr. Stockton is the author of the forthcoming report, 鈥淪uperstorm Sandy: Implications for Designing a Post-Cyberattack Power Restoration System.鈥 As Co-Chair of the Department of Defense鈥檚 Independent Review of the Washington Navy Yard Shooting, he helped write 鈥淪ecurity from Within,鈥 which proposed fundamental changes (now being implemented) in the Department鈥檚 internal security policies and programs.

The Senior Fellows program seeks to bring together technology and high-level decision makers in ways that better address national priorities. Drs. Danzig and Stockton will join Senior Fellows James Stavridis, former supreme allied commander of NATO; Jim Miller, former Undersecretary of Defense for Policy; Jim Gosler, one of the nation鈥檚 foremost experts in cybersecurity; and Phil DePoy, former CEO of the Center for Naval Analysis.
